Roasted Chestnuts are suppose to be a Holiday Staple ... so they say. | #FoodThoughts #RoastedChestnuts

In November 2016, was the first time my family and I ever ate Roasted Chestnuts. I was 32 yrs old at that point and I truly found the experience quite entertaining and fascinating .... especially since my hubby--the non-holiday-lover in our family--was the one who had the idea to try them. So ... below are photos that I took of the chestnuts AFTER they were roasted and at the very bottom of this post I'll let you know what we tought of them. 🌰🌰🌰 😋

I recently #vlogged what I cooked for dinner! | #dietlife

During the end of September 2019, Jess had joined a read-a-thon and the below video starts at the point when Jess talks about/shows her cooking.

If you can't see/watch the above video then click here to watch it.

Food Thoughts :
  1. Garlic green beans - Delicious but my go too is still just adding black pepper.
  2. Egg-white Omelettes - My kids loved them especially since they "tasted like pizza."

Happy October! #Pillsbury Pumpkin #Cookies

YAY! October is here!!

Time to celebrate so ..... I brought out my Pillsbury™ Shape™ Pumpkin Sugar Cookies for the kids to have fun with ....

Too bad I completely messed up pulling off the parchment paper properly and they came off the pan looking like this ... 😆

Thankfully they taste just as good no matter what they look like. **hehee**

Though this post is in NO WAY sponsored because -- hey man they are a tradition -- check out their page to get some more info!

Are you a fan of these pre-created cookies too?

Princess Castle - Nana's 1st Decorative Cake for Her Grandchildren | #BirthdayCake #FromJesstoYou

In May 2015 my mother (Nana) decided to create my then 4-year-old Daughter's Birthday Cake instead of ordering one. Nana decided on creating a Princess Castle for her Princess and it was quite the success (please check out the photos below)!!

The cake was a box one that was a purple swirl. My daughter loved it!

I was quite proud, especially since it was the first time for her to take something like this on!

KISSES Candy Cane Blossoms | Hershey's @HersheyCompany #fromjesstoyou #dessert

** I first found this recipe on the back of the Hershey's Kisses bag (see below photos) in December 2014. Check out Hershey's website for more info. **
Ingredients
  • 48 HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Candy Cane Mint Candies
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine (1 stick), softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/3 cup red or green sugar crystals, granulated sugar or powdered sugar for rolling
Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Remove wrappers from candies.
  2. Beat butter, granulated sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add alternately with milk to butter mixture, beating until well blended.
  3. 3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in red sugar, granulated sugar, powdered sugar or a combination of any of the sugars. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned and cookie is set. Remove from oven; cool 2 to 3 minutes. Press a candy piece into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 48 cookies.
My Attempt/Success with this Recipe :

Recipe/Ingredients Changes : I didn't change a thing!

My Family's Verdict :

My Thoughts : These were my first attempt in baking cookies for my daughter's school teachers ... and it worked out well that my daughter was able to help make them too. I would definitely bake/make them again. However, you really need to be a peppermint fan for you to truly enjoy this version.

My 3-year-old Daughter's Thoughts : LOVED making them as they were easy and very interactive for her age. Plus she enjoyed eating them too.

Gift Receiver's Thoughts : They raved about them! But whether that was because of the gesture in receiving them OR because they actually liked them still remain to be seen. =0)
